My Experience of Professor Wesley

Dear Professor Wesley,

I like you as a person, but I do not like the class. There are somethings I like about the class such as the discussions, watching videos, and laughing. They may seem like things that are not going to help in life but I feel that it is something that can bring out my smile and something that makes me feel like I have a voice. I do enjoy you Professor. I know that the things that you say are straightforward and I do respect that, but sometimes you should at least try not to say some things rudely. It might be the truth but the truth can really hurt. Just like when I ask questions in the computer lab, you make me feel like I am SLLLOOOWWW. Sometimes I want to spaz out but I try to manage my anger. To be honest, in English, I am a slow learner and sometimes I feel like you try to embarrass me in front of the class. That is very disrespectful. And when I don't have my homework, it's not that I don't try to do it, but I just get stressed out.

Today's Research

Today in class we went to the library to do research on our argumentative essays. It was a challenge to look through the library trying to find the required amount of research to complete the research. At first, I was thinking "How am I going to find a good research book on absent fathers?" Well, I did find a book that had a excellent source of what I really need to at least start my paper of. The other books that I found had in cited sources in them. Therefore, I asked Professor if I can use the source if is cited in the book. She said yes but I would have to learn on Purdue Owl how to use both of them in my essay. This paper is going to be a challenge due to the fact that we have to do research and still try to include events that interact with Sula. I know I can make it through this paper. I am going to put my all into this paper and stride to make a 100%.

Is Technology Effecting Children?

The video that we saw during class made me realize that people and children can get easily influenced by video games and the internet. I believe that technology is effecting children because it is more entertaining to watch and to learn. For example, the incident that happened in Colorado, James Holmes killed 12 people and injured 70 people on July 20,2012. It was said that he was living in a basement and he never left it playing Call of Duty. Honestly, if you live in a basement playing Call of Duty, then you have some kind of delusion of actually being a part of the game. When the people on the video was talking about if parents watched television with their children things would be the way they are. Some of it can be true but it can also be a bad influence on the child. Some parents don't care what they look at with their children but when it is on the other hand when parents find their kids doing some of the things that the children saw on the television. It all depends on the parent and what they watch and how the parent influences the child.

The Revealing Truth of Nel

The conversation that Eva and Nel had was surprising. I never knew that Eva felt the way she did. When she said that Nel was like Sula, I was confused. I thought that Nel was a sweet, conservative person. Until Eva mentioned the story of Chicken Little drowning, saying that Nel was watching just like Sula did. None of them budged to save Chicken Little, meaning that Nel was just as evil as Sula but nobody didn't notice it till later. Nel was conservative about her evilness. Sula was more raw with her emotions and what she wanted to say. Although Nel seemed to be a sweet person and Sula being a person who has no remorse of how someone feel is crazy for me to read Nel was just like Sula. It also makes me think about when Sula was in her death bed. Nel saw that Sula was sick and that she was overdosing on the medicine that the dot or prescribed to her. Nel never tried to take the medicine away from Sula. So she knew that if Sula keep on taking more medicine that she would eventually overdose. Meaning, Nel would think that it would a way of revenge when Sula took Jude away from Nel.

The Whore of 1937

When I read that Sula and Jude was in the doggy-style position, I was surprised. I felt like it was very disrespectful to sleep with your "best" friend. If I was Nel, I would probably bust out in tears then build up with rage and leave the room. But when I come back I am going to fuck both of them up. With Jude, I would fuck him up and beat him senseless. I would also find a butcher knife and cut his dick off. With Sula, I would bust her eyes out and break either her leg or her arm. I would then take them outside, strap both of them to a chair and let them starve. And maybe if I am feeling nice for a few minutes, I might give them some food. But if they try to escape, I am going to shoot them from a far and just let them die slowly with a gunshot in their legs. Finally, I would give them the benefit to be my slaves for the rest of their lifes.

The Fading Away of Sula and Nel

When Sula was planning on going to college, I knew that her friendship with Nel was fading away. Nel was married with her husband, Jude Greene. It was strange that the only reason that he wanted to get married was to feel like a man. I felt like that was selfish to marry someone despite of their "love". Before Sula knew about Nel and Jude's  wedding, Sula and Nel was already fading. She couldn't believe that someone she once loved could leave her alone in the dark. Even her mother was happy that Sula would be gone because Sula had control over Nel.

The Perverted Shadrack in 1922

In the 1922 chapter of the book, I felt that Sula was very cruel for throwing Chicken Little in the water. If she noticed that he was not coming back up, then she should have at least jump in the water and save him. Like who would go that far putting someone in harms way? The thought of Sula doing this made me realize that she is a little on the crazy side. This situation made me change my perspective of Sula. It showed me that the author wants the reader to change their perspective of Sula. My perspective has changed because at the beginning of the book, I thought that Sula was a sweet little girl that lived in the Bottom. I believed that Sula wanted to have some kind of attention during the book, to make it seem like she was all dysfunctional.

Sula's Karma

The Karma of Sula

It was ironic that Albert Jacks aka Ajax betrayed Sula. I thought it was funny to find out that Ajax left Sula. It was karma that caught up with Sula. All of the times she was going from man to man, has finally caught up with her. Sula thought just because they had sex and she felt like he is "the one", that he would not leave her. Just like when Sula took Jude from Nel. He might have stayed with her while a while but later on he left to go to Detroit, New Jersey. At first, I thought that Sula and Jude was at least stay together for some months but it comes to find out that Jude was just as trifling as Sula. And that is also how Ajax is too. All he wanted was the pussy and like Sula just wanted to have sex with him. He is just a player and I think that it is dumb to be that disgusting. So hopefully Sula will learn that just because she a bitch don't mean that he won't do it too.

Hannah the Hoe

1921
I really feel bad that I did not get to read last night. due to the fact that my stomach was hurting bad. I wish I did because when we talked a little about. the main thing that caught my attention was Hannah being a whore. who sleeps with newly wed men. which I think is very disgusting from my point of view. what type of person does such things like that and don't feel guilty at the end of the day. I know she lost her husband put she should not carry herself like that. even her young daughter Sula knows what mama does in the pantry. which I think a child should never know about at all.so far Sula has been a great read. I look forward to catching up on my missed reading and moving alone.

The Aftermath of 1919

To be honest, I didn't read all of this chapter. The most that I know this chapter is Shadrack, a private just came back from World War II. For example, "He closed his eyes to avoid seeing his hands and fumbled with the laces of the heavy high-topped shoes" and when it book said, "The nurse had tied them into a double know, the way one does for children and Shadrack, long unaccustomed to the manipulation of intricate things, could not get them loose." I felt like all those things was ridiculous because he made himself feel like he didnt have hands. It was crazy to read about Shadrack because he was crazy enough to have his brain have that kind of mental concept of no having hands.
